Ian Mathison

Multi-media artist born in Toxteth, Liverpool in 1960.

Didn't do art as a separate subject, but played guitar, wrote poetry, built sets, trod the boards - art was subliminal.

Bought my first serious camera in 1979. Photography = Drawing with light

 

Photographed my first wedding two years later on the day that Bucks Fizz won Eurovision and Aldaniti won the Grand National. 

​

Went into partnership in 2009 with my wife, Karen. Together we photographed across the length and breadth of the UK.

​

Finally went to art school at Blackburn College in 2018 and graduated in 2021 with a first class BA(Hons) in Fine Art.

​

Currently working on a short film for the National Festival of Making.
